The concept of genetic immortality is rooted in the memory properties of DNA molecules, which are realised through the process of replication. The idea of technological personal immortality, however, is based on a different concept – the associative distributed memory of neural networks. Associative psychology is one of the oldest and most fundamental schools of thought in psychology. Originating in antiquity, it has a rich history that merits particular attention.
